Nalin Jayaraj Welgama is a senior Accountant having managed a leading firm of Chartered Accountants in the United Kingdom for several years prior to embarking upon an entrepreneurial function as founder Chairman of Ideal Group. He Conceptualized and found Ideal Plant and Vehicles Ltd UK in 1986, a company engaged in the worldwide export of luxury motor vehicles contractor’s plant and machinery from the UK.
In 1996, with the formation of Ideal Automotive Parts (Pvt) Ltd. the seeds were sown for the establishment of the group which at present comprises of 14 companies, each of which are playing a leading role in their respective business segments. The Group has diversified into Passenger cars, commercial vehicles, heavy machinery, motorcycles, import and distribution of Tyres, financial services, automotive parts and renewable energy and constitutes a combined turnover in excess of Rs. 20 billion annually and employees over 1,800 people.
Nalin J. Welgama is the youngest son of the renowned philanthropist entrepreneur Mr. S. A. Welgama whose name is synonymous with road haulage (transport) in Sri Lanka, a company whose origins date back to 1931.

Mr. Chaminda Wanigaratne is an eminent mechanical Engineer and a specialist in the automotive after sales management and volume based automotive business management with over 25 years experience. He started his career in 1996 as a Design Engineer / Project Manager attached to the Ministry of Finance and planning where he worked on several foreign funding projects – technology transfer in production floor management , light engineering etc. Thereafter, he entered into the automotive sector in 2002 as a Workshop Engineer at United Motors, which is one of Sri Lanka’s most respected blue chip companies. Then, he served as the DGM – Genuine Parts and service, at TVS Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, the local agent for TVS Motor Cycles – India for 5 years developing genuine parts and service network.
He joined Ideal Motors (Pvt) Ltd in 2009 as the General Manager – After Sales, where he initiated Mahindra automotive after sales with a special focus on technology diffusion on Common Rail Diesel Technology (CRDe). Prior to his appointment as the Director Automotive of Ideal Group, he served as
the General Manager Group After sales for 3 years at Associated Motorways Private Limited (AMW), a fully owned subsidiary of Al Futtaim Group in UAE.
He has made a tremendous contribution in setting up after sales networks, workshop flow designs, handling volume base agencies, increasing market share and network expansion in the companies he has worked for. Mr. Wanigaratne is a graduate of the University of Peradeniya where he obtained Bachelor of Science and Engineering. He also possesses a Master of Business Administration – MBA (specialized in management of Technology) from the Faculty of Engineering, University of Moratuwa. He is also an Associate Member of The Institute of Engineers’ Sri Lanka – AMIE (SL). He has also been a part of several curriculum boards, technical committees on local technology transfer in Automobiles.
In his spare time, he contributes to automotive industry related articles, which are sent to popular publications and journals.
Ms. Dilani Yatawaka, Group Finance Director of the Ideal Group is an experienced finance professional with over twenty years of post qualifying experience in building, leading and advising teams on finance, with a proven track record of contributions leading to improved financial performance and enhanced internal controls.
Prior to joining the Ideal Group, Dilani was the Group Finance Director of Associated Motorways (Private) Limited (AMW), a fully owned subsidiary of the Al Futtaim Group, UAE and was a board Director of three subsidiaries of AMW including the leasing and finance company. Dilani was greatly involved in the restructuring of the AMW Group post the Al Futtaim Acquisition and also provided the required leadership for the implementation of SAP across the Group.
Dilani carried out her article training of four years at Ernst & Young and obtained experience in auditing in various industries across the country.
She is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants UK and a Fellow Member of the Certified Management Accountants Sri Lanka.
Ms. Nimisha Welgama, Director Legal & Corporate Affairs qualified with LLB honors from the University of Warwick in the U.K., & also completed her Bar Vocational Course attached to Lincoln’s Inn, UK.
Later she moved to Sydney Australia & practiced as a solicitor in Australia gaining experience in many international and blue chip companies at Senior Level. Prior to returning to Sri Lanka she worked at Mills Oakley (Sydney) as Senior Associate – Toxic Torts and prior to that at DLA Piper (Sydney) as Solicitor – Litigation and Dispute Resolution.
Prior to being appointed as Director Legal & Corporate Affairs, Ms Welgama worked as Advisor – Corporate Strategy and New Business Development of the Ideal Group.
Prior to taking up the Head of ICT position at IFL, Mr. Kithsiri held the position of Head of ICT in the capacity of Assistant General Manager grade at New World Securities (Pvt) Limited. He has rendered his service and expertise to NWS Financial Services (Pvt) Ltd & NWS Management (Pvt) Ltd.
Counting over 17 years of experience in the field of IT and over 6 years of ICT Management, Mr. Kithsiri was attached to Ceylinco Stock Brokers as Senior Manager IT, Assistant Manager IT, Senior Data Processing Executive where his contribution was rewarded as the best Y2K Project Co-ordinate from Ceylinco Stock Brokers.
He possesses the Chartered Information Technology Professional – MBCS-CITP (UK) from The Chartered Institute for IT, London, ACS from Australian Computer Society, High Diploma in Computer Software Engineering (HDCSE) from Londontec international, Sri Lanka and Network Design & maintenance from University of Colombo.
With the wide range of accounting background, Mr Chandana has commenced his Accounting carrier at Kreston M N S & Co, a reputed Chartered Accountancy firm, in 1983. After obtaining his practical training stipulated by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka to obtain his Licentiate level Certificate, he received the senior membership of Association of Accounting Technicians of Sri Lanka in 1988.
Mr Chandana joined with Building Materials Corporation in 1985 and served them as the Accountant and the Internal Auditor. Then he joined the Manufacturing and Garment field where he rendered his service for 8 years in the capacity of an Accountant and the Finance Manager.
Entry to the Automobile field was marked by joining hands with United Motors Group as the Assistant General Manager Logistics and Operations for nearly 7 years where he gained a immense experience in Assembly, PDI, Motor Insurance and Distribution. One year basic training gathered on Workshop Practicing, Welding, Tool machinery, Mill Wright fittings, Elementary Auto & Power Electricity at Ceylon German Technical Training Institute helped him a lot to perform the tasks in the post at TVS Lanka (Pvt) Ltd. Mr Chandana joined Ideal Motors (Pvt) Ltd as the Manager Logistics in 2010 and presently manages the After Market and Logistics divisions of the Company in the capacity of General Manager.
Mrs. Iroshini Wijenayaka an accomplished marketing and communications professional, has over two decades of marketing experience in diverse industries such as, broadcast media, advertising, manufacturing and the automobile sector.
Before joining Ideal Motors Iroshini was Head of Marketing at Sri Lanka Cricket and prior to that was with Associated Motorways Private Limited (a fully owned subsidiary of Al Futtaim Group in UAE) in the capacity of Deputy General Manager Group Marketing & Communications for 6 years.
Her talents lie in taking brands to the next level by thinking out-of-the-box, and this has earned her the respect of an industry that looks only for the best.
Iroshini brings to the table a foundation of academic and professional credentials that includes a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing UK, Chartered Marketer, an MBA from the Western Sydney University, Australia and an MSc in Marketing from the Cardiff Metropolitan University of Wales, UK.
Iroshini , is the recipient of the “Most Influential Global Marketing Leaders” award in 2019 by the World Marketing Congress.
Mr. Malaka Vehalla joined Ideal Group on 1st January 2012 to start the Mahindra Two Wheeler operation and he was the head of Ideal 2 Wheelers at the capacity of Deputy General Manager for four and a half years. Currently he is serving for Ideal Motors heading the Mahindra Truck & Bus operation. He counts over 15 years’ experience in automobile with total of 25 years of sales and marketing experience.
Malaka was previously attached to TVS Lanka as the National Sales Manager. Prior to TVS Lanka he has served for St. Antony’s consolidated and Metropolitan Group. Throughout his career he has gain lot of experience in the fields of sales & marketing, dealer network and distribution management.
He has done his higher studies at Open University of Sri Lanka and Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing.
Mr. Rakitha Wimalasekara joined Ideal Group in November 2009 at the inauguration of Ideal Motors in Sri Lanka to the capacity of Area Sales Manager. Currently he is serving as the Deputy General Manager – Operations, overlooking all aspects of the Mahindra Operation in Sri Lanka. He is responsible for the company’s National Sales Strategy, Operations and Administration.
He had started his carrier with Associated Motorways Private Limited in 2002 as a Sales Executive and had served 5 years within the company. Rakitha joined General Sales Company Private Limited in 2007 as the Area Sales Manager looking after the Mahindra Sales Operation in Sri Lanka before joining Ideal Motors in 2009.
He counts for over 18+ years of sales and marketing experience in Automotive Sector and is a veteran and a key enabler for all companies he has served over the years. His key areas of specialization includes, Strategy, Sales & Marketing, Dealer Network and Distribution Management, People Development, Sales Logistics and Optics.
Rakitha has a born skill for team development and team management which had immensely helped the company during the times of need.
Rakitha Continues to serve as an integral part of Ideal Group, propelling the company forward.
Manoj is heading the Group Human Resources Department since 2016 July, in order to align Human Resources into strategic business direction while supporting 500+ staff across the group. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree specialized in Human Resources Management from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. He started his HR career as a Management Trainee soon after his graduation and exposure nearly 12 years in the corporate sector up to now.
Prior to the present position, he was attached with the AMW Group for almost 6 years and held the post of Manager Human Resources / HR Business Partner (Automotive). He has closely worked with Al- Futtaim Group in Dubai (parent company of AMW) in several HR projects such as Talent Management, Employee Engagement, HR system implementations and Compensation and Benefits management.
In addition to AMW he has served for Loadstar (Private) Limited in HR field for nearly 5 years which is the largest industrial tyre manufacturer in the world. He has worked with McKinsey consultant during 2007 – 2008 in Lean Manufacturing process implementation project at Loadstar. Also he has engaged in SAP HR module implementation projects in Loadstar ( 2008) and AMW (2012) successfully.
Priyal assumed his duties as Group Internal Audit Manager of Ideal group in March 2017. Previously he was heading Internal Audit Department of Lankem Tea & Rubber Plantations ( Pvt.) Ltd, the managing agents for Kotagala Plantations PLC & Agarapathana Plantations (Pvt )Ltd. Priyal has started his profession with Suntel Limited, one of a leading telecommunication companies and served there during 2003 – 2012 ( nearly 10 years) in Finance and Audit divisions.
He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration ( Special) degree at University of Colombo. Priyal is an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants ( ICASL) since 2011. Further he is a member of the Association of Accounting Technicians of Sri Lanka and certified lead auditor for ISO 9001-2000 -quality management systems.
Nadisha is heading the Group Supply Chain since 2018 April, in order to align Imports into strategic business direction while supporting 500+ staff across the group. After his secondary education he has done some courses and diplomas such as Diploma in International trade, Shipping and Logistics – Institute of Commercial Studies & Followed International Purchasing and Supply Chain Diploma which was conducted by WTO (World Trade Organization, Geneva). He started his career as a Wharf Clerk and exposure nearly 23 years in the corporate sector up to now. Prior to the present position, he was attached with the Manager Logistics – Diesel and Motor Engineering PLC (November 2000 to April 2018).
In Dimo, he was responsible for total Logistics Operation of Air/sea freight Imports, exports, Transshipments, entreport, Ro-Ro vehicle clearance, Projects, fertilizer, placing of orders, foreign payment methods and bank procedures related to overseas business, Medical equipment and Bond shipments etc. Liaised with customs, banks, BOI, SLPA, shipping lines, out-source brokerage parties, freight forwarders and building up of good working relationship to have a smooth operation
